CM Punk's comment on the audience's reaction
"Honestly, I didn't think there would be such a reaction. When I finished the promo, I remember standing and thinking I can't go back through the street because I just did an explosive promo. If I go through the curtains, during keyfeb, I have to argue with someone. So I go out in the side hallway, which is a small street another which is another exit in the corridor.People usually walk there, they walk along the corridor, but for some reason no one is there. It was empty, and I remember looking around and thinking, "Oh my God, what happened?"
Reaction of other wrestlers
I walked down the hall and walked out the back into the production room. There was no room, because everyone was choking in the corridor and waiting for me to return via Gorilla. And the first person I saw was chef Robert Irwin. And it looks like he saw an alien [Punk makes an excited boy scream]: "That's great!"
And I would say that this guy's reaction means a lot to me. He's the kind of person who might not watch wrestling very often, but he resonates with it. And I feel I have done something very profound. And then I looked at Chris Masters and he looked at me and said, "Did you hear what Punk just said?" And me: "Hi, Chris, it's me" and he: "Oh, it's you. Kapet, they're going to fire you, man", and then I approach everyone. I didn't know it would be as big as it was, but I knew, just based on this reaction, that I had done something great.
CM Punk sits in the middle of the ring
When Punk debuted AEW, he read the promo and sat in the middle of the ring with his legs crossed, as he had done before. Edwards asked Punk if he got any reaction from the industry after that that surprised him?
"No, I do not think so. I think that many people do not want to specifically give emotions, but after that I had messages from some fairly highranking people in this industry, whom I respected and continue to respect. Let`s just say, after their messages, I was convinced that I did everything well. "
