FOX wanted the WWE to sign CM Punk

FOX wanted WWE to sign with CM Punk so much that they were willing to pay for it.

Cm punk AEW debut

More than seven years later, CM Punk finally signed with AEW where he made his debut last month in his hometown Chicago. It is known that Punk actually signed his new contract with AEW about 30 minutes before his Rampage debut. Despite the crazy luck of fans, many are interested in the attitude of the former "domestic" CM Punk WWE. 4,444 FOX reps are known to have established a good relationship with Punk during their time at WWE Backstage. Punk himself has said he wants nothing to do with WWE, and WWE officials have consistently said they are not interested in Punk. As soon as rumors surfaced that AEW was trying to negotiate with CM Punk to sign them, FOX began actively lobbying for WWE to propose to Punk. It was rumored that WWE replied that Punk had asked for too much money, so they disagreed. However, FOX told WWE he was willing to "help" by paying part of a potential contract. WWE officials later replied that there were other reasons for not wanting to sign Punk, citing "relationship issues" and the like.

What CM Punk said in his ESPN Sports interview

At the same time, CM Punk was interviewed one day by ESPN sports channel in which he said WWE was "playing games with him" during middlemen negotiating with him about a possible return to the company:
"I remember one of the first the things I told them was, "First off, don't play games." And they played. Some things never change. … When you start talking to people with whom you have a past and you know who they are, how seriously can you take that? I know exactly who they are and they continue to prove it. I tried to be as diplomatic as possible
